IPMS/USA ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order on August 8th, 2026 at 9:00am EST by John Noack for the purpose of reporting to the membership the actions of the Executive Board over the preceding year, the current status of the Society, and goals for the ensuing year.

 

Welcome and Introductions

President John Noack welcomed everyone and introduced the members of the Executive Board and Staff.

 

Staff Reports

• Nancy Kennedy-Hackney, National Office Manager and Event System Administrator, gave her report. Membership has grown to 5,550 currently. Emphasized to contact her if you have issues receiving the journal so she can help resolve it. Has sent out 25 and 50 year pins.
• Eugenie Taylor Ray gave the report for Eric Aitala, webmaster. The website is currently being updated to have a new look and easier navigation.
• Mike Oberholtzer gave the report for Nate Pollock, data manager. Currently evaluating membership by geographic area that is not associated with a local chapter to see where new chapters could be a possibility. Also managing the surveys and results that are being sent out.

EBoard Reports

• Mike Oberholtzer, Treasurer, gave his report. The financial state of the Society continues to be strong. The 60th Anniversary membership special did reduce annual income for the year but was expected and was worth it for the membership. Has been ensuring that IPMS/USA maintains a strong reserve.
• Joe Terry, Secretary, gave his report. Continues to handle inquiries as they come in, asked that RC’s and local chapter contacts respond when emails are forwarded so that he knows the inquiry is being addressed. Helped institute a Best SIG display award for Tiger Meet and is continuing to work on supporting and growing the SIG community of IPMS/USA. Also working on refreshing and updating the IPMS/USA web store.
• David Lockhart, Director of Local Chapters, gave his report and updated everyone on how many chapters we currently have and his plans to improve the chapter renewal process.
• Eugenie Taylor Ray gave the report for Chris Bucholtz, Publications Director, as he was unable to attend this year. He has been working with the team to develop a workflow allowing them to work on multiple journals at once, resulting in the journal being published on time. They are currently looking for an advertising manager.
• Eugenie Taylor Ray, Director of Social Media, gave her report highlighting what her role was and how effective the social media pages have been.
• Dave Morissette, 1st Vice President, gave his report. He highlighted the success of the reviewer corps, there are approximately 50 reviewers currently and they have been posting many reviews. There is some difficulty with acquiring review products due to the current cost of shipping from overseas and we are working on that.
• Scott Hackney, 2nd Vice President, gave his report. He highlighted the success of the current convention and high numbers of model registrations. He encouraged members to volunteer for judging. Huntsville is going to be another great convention.
• John Noack, President, gave his report. He discussed the updating of the website and how it was needed. He has formed a constitution and bylaws committee which is in the process of reviewing those documents to propose any changes that might be needed. He is looking at what will encourage growth in the future and answering the question “Why should I join IPMS/USA?”

Q&A Session

Q: Is there something to use on social media to help turn members of SIGs into members of IPMS/USA?

A: Joe and Eugenie answered that SIG highlight posts are being planned to be posted highlighting different SIGs to bring awareness of them to the members.

Q: Why is the cost of the convention not being raised as costs go up?

A: Mike answered that the price of the convention is relative to the cost of having the convention. If it costs more to hold the convention then the price will reflect that cost.

Q: Can the NCC be allowed to make the splits they need?

A: Scott answered that it is difficult to create splits during the convention due to having enough awards. More splits can be had but they have to be planned in advance.

Q: Will IPMS/USA have promotional materials available for local chapters to use to promote their shows and events, or other promotional materials?

A: Yes, more promotional materials are being worked on currently.

2027 National Convention Update

Curt Haskell gave a presentation on the upcoming National Convention for July 14-17, 2027 and the planning that has been done so far.

Following the meeting, the Executive Board met and voted to accept the bid for the 2028 National Convention to be held July 18-22 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
